The Havøysund National Tourist Route is the road that takes you out to the furthest reaches of the north. This tourist route follows the Arctic Ocean and winds through a rugged landscape with cliffs and wild scenery, where the fells extend all the way down to the edge of the sea. The fishing village of Havøysund is a surprising encounter with a vibrant community on the coast of Finnmark. Fishing has been the main livelihood along this weather-beaten coast. From Havøysund, you can take a boat to Rolvsøy, Ingøya and Fruholmen lighthouse further out in the Arctic Ocean. The area offers the best opportunities for sea fishing. Hjelmsøystauren, one of Northern Europe’s largest bird cliffs, is also worth a visit. The Havøysund National Tourist Route is a good alternative to the North Cape, and an enjoyable route for cyclists. The Havøysund National Tourist Route (County Road 889) between Kokelv and Havøysund is 67 kilometres long. Hurtigruten departs from Havøysund daily. This offers a chance to compose exciting round trips incorporating the National Routes. The Havøysund National Tourist Route (County Road 889) between Kokelv and Havøysund is 67 kilometres long.
